Random Notes from Day 1 of INMAN Connect NYC

 INMAN Connect NYC '08

Today was Day 1 of the excellent INMAN Connect conference.  The meetings started with Bloggers Connect – a gathering of pro and business bloggers for sharing best practices.  Clearly blogging in maturing as a medium and tool in the Real Estate industry.  Today, blogs are a tool we have that can help us, if used properly, to become more intimate with our clients, and to demonstrate some of our value to potential clients.

But, this conference is about more than just blogging, and there are additional tools and widgets that will help us get closer to our clients in this on-line medium.  Things like Meebo, Plugoo, Trulia, Zillow and many others are available.  I will cover off some of these in a later post.

Overall however there is a cloud over this conference due to the slowing U.S. economy and the problems real estate is having in many parts of this country, initiated by the sub-prime loans issues.  Some predicted at the conference today that the U.S. is already in a recession, and will not come out until mid to late 2009 at the earliest.  Indeed this should give us pause.

From a Canadian perspective, we need to keep abreast of what happens here in the U.S. since this great country is still our largest trading partner

Let’s see what unfolds tomorrow.
