Top 10 things I love about The Beach, Toronto: #1 and #2

Episode 249 of the Toronto Real Estate Musing daily video blog.

For this week, George O’Neill is celebrating the top ten best reasons he loves living in The Beach/Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto. We’re starting with #1 and #2 today.

What makes The Beach such a unique place to live, work and play?

1. Our Blue Flag certified beaches

Only two beaches on mainland Lake Ontario that have been internationally recognized for its exceptional water quality and both are in The Beach. Woodbine Beach to the west has a finer sand and has many sporting amenities including volleyball and outdoor swimming pools. Kew-Balmy Beach to the east has a more pebbly sand texture and offers areas for boating. Both beaches are well patrolled by lifeguards.

2. Our beautiful parks

The Beach is well forested in old-growth trees, and three large parks provide an even more natural atmosphere. Ashbridges Bay Park to the west offer many recreational possibilities including boat launch areas. Woodbine Park and Kew Gardens offer many sport facilities and children’s playgrounds and are the primary venues for the annual International Beaches Jazz Festival. Glen Stewart Park to the central northeast offers a quiet walking path and a hidden little waterfall just steps from Queen Street East.

Check back tomorrow for #3 and #4.
